Chapter 4, Page 98

Oh page, where did I go wrong with you?

Update February 2010

Hey all!

I’m hoping not to leave you all on a stupid cliffhanger this month. I’ll try to bust out another page or 2 before March 8th. On the 8th I’m heading back to NYC for a couple of weeks to hang out with the awesome Alice Fox! There will be no page update between that time and maybe not for all of March as I have some commitments that month.

Other than that, if you’re jonesin’ for some NC! related art, I did a few sketch requests over at my sketchblog. HMM!

Also there is this thing that is super sexy hot right now called FORMSPRING. Where you ask people questions. I have the affliction of jumping on internet crazes, much to the shame of my mentors (whatever!) but if you guys have any questions for me, about the comic or myself, feel free to ask me over here!

Lastly, I’m opening up some commissions so I can do some things like feed my cat, and if you’re interested, they’d range from 10-25$ USD (payment through paypal only). Only doing busts at the moment. The price depends on detail and color detail. If you’re interested, contact me at ninjamelii[at]gmail.com! :)

PS/ sorry this page looks kind of silly. I’ve been reading a mega-ton of shoujo recently. Just thank the heavens I did not at any bubbles and sparkles to this page.

State of the Comic

Rah, so clearly there’s no page today. I’m hoping to have some up in June some time. I want to wrap up this chapter by the end of June (and there are only about 5 more page in it). However, there is some big news regarding the comic.

Updates are going to be put on the bottom of my priorities from now on. This means updates monthly, or every other month. This decision was not an easy one, but it is either this or quit the comic entirely. Since I am still unable to leave the characters behind and leave their stories unfinished, I chose this option. I made this decision some time this week after reading a bad review (of another comic) and realizing A LOT of criticisms for that webcomic, are problems I see in my own work. I’ve been continuing with No Crap! for some time, and trying like hell to fix all the mistakes I made, but instead of doing that, I’m only really adding on tangents and more things that will need fixing later on. The only way to truly fix this story would be to restart it, and I just don’t have it in me to do that. This comic always started as an experiment, but I’ve already put four (nearly five) years into it, trying to make it more than that, and I don’t see the end in sight. Honestly, I’m almost 25, and I don’t want to be 30 before I can start my first “real” comic.

I feel kind of silly stopping now when I just tried so hard recently to regain readership, but I think in the end, this is the right decision to make. My readers (you guys) have been absolutely wonderful to me from the start and I just wanted to express my unending gratitude for it. It was due to you that I knew I was capable of improvement and storytelling, and your encouragement that kept me going up until this point. I can only hope some of you will follow me unto my next project (which is going to be written out beforehand, so none of the mistakes that happened with NC! will repeat themselves).

Just to reiterate: I am not quitting No Crap! permanently. I am merely going to start updating when I feel like and not keep myself to any schedule, so I can focus on new work. If it comes to the point that I’m unable to continue drawing pages, there will be completion on some level, even if it is in the form of summarized chapters in prose form. If you don’t want to have to keep coming to the page to keep checking for updates since they’re going to be sporadic from now on, there are a few different ways to do this.

Add the RSS: HERE or the RSS on LIVEJOURNAL: HERE to get updates on your LJ friends pages.

I guess if you want to follow progress on any new project I decide upon, you can also follow my sketch blog for preview art and etc. HERE. (Very few posts are members only. Probably spoilers/excessive detail on future story/stories. Even people that aren’t that popular need to worry about their work getting jacked, and I don’t want to finally release a new comic only to find someone used my ideas somewhere else. I DO NOT LIKE THAT.)

Feel free to leave any questions you may have in comments, or email, and I will try my best to answer them.
